Our Camps at Your School

Bringing the adventure to your school!

Cumulus In-House

Your students can now enjoy outdoor camping, learning and fun right on your doorstep with our fully supervised camp experience! Cumulus will bring the tents, the activities and the instructors to your school with a choice of two programmes:

This day teaches the students the importance of working together as a team and supporting each other in a positive and inclusive environment. The day comprises a full programme of fun camp games and activities.
The children get involved pitching their tents and learning how to ensure they are comfortable and cosy for the night. They learn about campcraft, eating outdoors, play a variety of fun camp games and then round off the day with marshmallows and cocoa before bedtime.
(24-hour period starting from approx. 10:30am)

Travel costs can apply on camps more than 100 miles from our base in Wareham, Dorset
We provide a night duty member of staff and additional first aid cover. Safety framework includes Risk Management Plans, Risk Assessments, First Aid procedures and Standard Operating Procedures for the camp and all activities.

FAQs - The Essentials

What will my child get to eat on the camp?

Cumulus Outdoors will provide the food throughout the camp, so no need for a packed lunch! There will be a set menu prior to the camp commencement, however, it is more than likely to be beef fajitas for lunch on the first day, followed by a BBQ on the first night with a full English breakfast the following morning (2 day, 1 overnight camp). All dietary and religious requirements are catered for and we strictly have a no nut on camp policy.

What sort of activities take place on camp?

The aim of the camp is to provide students with a basic understanding of survival in the outdoor environment with a focus on the big four (fire, shelter, water and food). With a particular focus on shelter, it’s construction and spending a night in the outdoors.

What equipment will my child need?

There will be a kit list sent out to all students. We do stress that it is not necessary to go out and buy all new kit to come on our courses.
So long as you have a sleeping bag and roll mat, torch, appropriate footwear and some warm clothes you will be fine,

Will there be someone ‘on call’ through the night?

A Cumulus policy on all camps is that two members of staff will remain under the main canvas overnight (not in a tent), with a lantern or light on during the night. Should any students have any problems during the night, it is made very easy and clear where the students need to go to find help.

How many staff will be working on the camp?

We typically have a 1:12 ratio, sometimes we exceed this to 1:15 depending on the age of the students.

Will there be qualified first aiders on site?

All staff are first aid qualified, enhanced DBS checked as well as Level 2 Health and Hygiene qualified.
