Holiday Activity and Food Programme (HAF)

The Holiday Activity and Food (HAF) Programmes is offered in conjunction with Dorset Council. It is designed to offer local children the opportunity to participate in a range of fun filled activities on the Jurassic Coast. Every child in attendance will receive a freshly cooked and healthy meal. Activity sessions are aimed at children aged 5- 16.

HAF Summer in Dorset Programme

Come and enjoy a morning full of activities, plus a hot nutritious meal throughout the Summer holidays at the Cumulus Outdoors Residential Centre in Swanage. Over the course of the school holidays, we will be offering a range of outdoor adventure activities aimed at getting local children active and into the great outdoors.

Our fun-filled sessions include an adventure activity before lunch. Not only will the children have great fun on the activity but they will also enjoy a delicious meal to re-charge their energy levels!

Take a look at the table of activities below and select which day(s) you wish to book for your children. Spaces are free for participants that have a Holiday Activity and Food Passcode, but we can cater for others without a HAF code at £12.50pp. All abilities and dietary needs are catered for.

If you are booking a water-based activity your child must be able to swim 25m wearing a buoyancy aid and be confident in the water

 

25-29 July 2022 for children aged 5-7 years

Monday 25th July – Beach Safety

Heading to the beach with our Beach Lifeguards. Take part in a rooky lifeguard programme. Learn beach and water safety while enjoying the beach and beach games! Wetsuits provided. Please bring swimwear, towel and watershoes. 

Tuesday 26th July – Mini Olympics & Circus Skills

Can you juggle? Or how about plate spinning? Learn the art of performing in the circus! Try our mini Olympics and circus skills session ​- guaranteed enjoyment and perhaps you will come away juggling! 

Wednesday 27th July – Bushcraft

A bushcraft session geared to help you get back to basics whilst also enjoying the natural environment. This session is great fun, giving you an opportunity to ‘play’ outside. Shelters and fire lighting – a nice introduction to the BIG 4! And of course – Marshmallows included!

Thursday 28th July – Arts & Crafts 

Get crafty! Design and make your very own flag to fly on our flag pole. Plus Natural Art activities on our purpose built sand area! Head out and find natures instruments and create some works of art!

Friday 29th July – Aeroball & Nature Walk

Aeroball is a game which combines the skills needed in trampolining, basketball and volleyball. Enjoy a bounce plus head out on our nature trail close by and try and spot the hidden treasures.

 

1-5 August for children aged 8-12 years

Monday 1st August – Climbing

Climbing is one of the best ways to experience Dorset’s incredible Jurassic coastline. Scale to new heights and admire the beautiful scenery during this fun filled outdoor adventure activity. Under the watchful eye of our team of highly experienced and qualified instructors you will learn new skills and have fun, all within a safe and well-managed environment.

Tuesday 2nd August – Sports Day 

Try our team sports day where we have our panna soccer inflatable course out for football and hockey. Games such as Ultimate Volleyball, Ultimate Frisbee, Egg Drop Challenge – This exciting team sports day will get everyone working together, with some added competition and prizes.

Wednesday 3rd August – Sit on top Kayaking

Sit on Top Kayaking on our exclusive private lake. Under the watchful eye of our experienced instructors, you will master a range of paddle strokes, enabling you to learn how to stop, turn and self-rescue among other important skills. After some time getting to grips with the basics both on land and in the water, our instructors will initiate team games and challenges. This will encourage you to put your training into practice, in a fun and supportive environment. Wetsuits provided. Please bring swimwear, towel and watershoes. 

Thursday 4th August – Tag Archery & Air Rifle Shooting

Tag Archery combines archery, paintball and dodgeball into one unbeatable outdoor adventure. If you like target sports and team games, tag archery is definitely for you! Tag archery is a safe and friendly combat sport, which makes it the perfect option for ages. Plus – Air Rifles! Learn in a safe and fun environment that teaches the fundamentals of gun handling and safety whilst encouraging unique skills. The principles of marksmanship are hard learnt, and patience is key. Sessions typically starts with how to safely handle, load and fire the Air Rifle in a controlled environment. Our lightweight Air Rifles have no kick and apprehension is replaced by a desire to learn more and compete against their peers. Take away your targets with pride and enjoy basking in the glory of being the most accurate marksman in the school.

8-12 August 2022 for children aged 12-16 years

Monday 8th August – Coasteering

Coasteering is a sea and cliff based adventure activity, which allows you to explore the Jurassic Coast under the supervision of qualified and experienced instructors. This fun water based activity involves rock scrambling, low level climbing, sea swimming, cliff jumping and cave exploration. Wetsuits provided. Please bring swimwear, towel and rough trainers that can get wet. No other footwear will be permitted.

Friday 12th August – High Ropes Course

During our high and low ropes course session, you will tackle a selection of obstacles at varying heights. You will have the opportunity to swing, zip, jump and climb as you tackle various elements of the course. There are a wide selection of obstacles to overcome – each requiring a slightly different skillset and approach. Our favourites are the gladiator rings, high all aboard and high sea-saw!

 

15-19 August 2022 for children aged 12-16 years

Monday 15th August – Coasteering
