Adventure at Your School

Cumulus In-House

Your students can enjoy a fun filled outdoor learning and camping experience on your doorstep with our fully supervised camp experience! Cumulus will bring the tents, the activities and the instructors to your school with a choice of two programmes:

Depending on your preference, we can focus the day on teambuilding where we teach the students the importance of working together as a team, supporting each other in a positive and inclusive environment. Alternatively, the day can consist of a full programme of fun games and activities – see what we can offer below!

Bringing our tented village to you! By using your own secluded and exclusive grounds at the school, we will bring a fully kitted camp kitchen, canvas tents, communal evening area and activity equipment.

Possible activities may include but are not limited to:
·      The fundamentals of pitching a good camp
·      Bushcraft including The Big Four
·      Fun filled camp games
·      Camp Fire Cooking
·      Air Rifles
·      Tag Archery
·      Hennessy Hammocks Overnight Option (subject to access to trees!)
·      Team Challenge Competition
·      Site Olympics
·      Orienteering
Other external activities subject to the area (mountain biking, kayaking, climbing etc)

Our in-house camp is set within the grounds of your school, where our tents provide comfortable and practical accommodation for your students and teachers. All of our meals are cooked at camp, using plenty of fresh ingredients.

We will setup a field kitchen where our dedicated team will conjure up hearty meals supplemented by the students campfire cooking! Making the most of fresh Dorset produce.

Sample menu:
Breakfast – Pancakes with a delicious choice of topping and fresh fruit, Yogurts and warm drinks
Lunch – Hearty soup and homemade sandwiches
Supper – Lasagne accompanied by student cooked Garlic Damper Bread followed by  student cooked camp fire Chocolate Orange Brownies
Midnight Feast (well not quite at midnight) – Campfire Smores and Hot Chocolate

Our experienced camp team will work with School staff throughout to take the hassle out of your tented adventure. Duty staff are available to pupils throughout the night to deal with the Bogey Monster and we have vast experience in getting an excited group off to sleep to enjoy the following day.

What will my child get to eat on the camp?

We will provide the food throughout the camp, so no need for a packed lunch! There will be a set menu prior to the camp commencement, however, it is more than likely to be beef fajitas for lunch on the first day, followed by a BBQ on the first night with a full English breakfast the following morning (overnight camp). All dietary and religious requirements are catered for and we strictly have a no nut on camp policy.

What equipment will my child need?

Please go to our leader/parent resource page to download the equipment list.

Will there be someone ‘on call’ through the night?

A Cumulus policy on all camps is that two members of staff will remain either under the main canvas overnight or in their staff tent, with a lantern or light on during the night. Should any students have any problems during the night, it is made very easy and clear where the students need to go to find help.

How many staff will be working on the camp?

We typically have a 1:12 ratio, sometimes we exceed this to 1:15 depending on the age of the students.

Will there be qualified first aiders on site?

All staff are first aid qualified, enhanced DBS checked as well as Level 2 Health and Hygiene qualified.
