Stag & Hen Coasteering

White-knuckle stag and hen parties for great memories to share!

We think coasteering is one of the best adventure activities to enjoy on a stag or hen weekend in Dorset. Not only will you get to experience the beauty of the Jurassic Coastline, but you’ll be able to make memories with your friends! During our coasteering sessions, a team of expert instructors will guide you along the coast. You’ll stop to climb rocky outcrops, explore sea caves and jump in to the water below.

No prior experience is necessary, we’ll provide top of the range equipment and a thorough briefing will be given before you set out with our guides! All of the Cumulus instructors are highly qualified and our sessions are carried out in a safe and controlled environment, without compromising on fun! We put our all into every coasteering session to make sure the whole group leave with a smile on their face (and perhaps memories to shares in the speeches!).

We operate under a strict ‘challenge by choice‘ ethos, which means we’ll be guided by the needs of your group. You’ll never have to jump from a height you’re not comfortable with, but if you’re feeling adventurous and want to face your fears, we’ll help you do that too!

FAQs - The Essentials

Do I need to be able to swim?

Yes, we need you to be able to swim 50m. You will have a buoyancy aid, wetsuit and helmet to keep you afloat and plenty of rest stops

What do I need to bring?

All equipment is provided, all you need is your costume, towel and trainers for the water.

Will I be told what to do?

At Cumulus, we take the time to brief you and constantly make you aware of what is happening and show you what you will be required to do. The training is progressive.

Will I have to do something I don’t want to do?

No. Our ethos is ‘Challenge by Choice.’ We give you the challenges, it’s your choice on how you meet those challenges. So you are empowered to be in control of your session.

Is it far to walk to where we coasteer?

The walk is about 20 minutes of stunning scenery. Every provider has to walk in.

How long does the session last?

The session lasts 3.5 hours from the time you arrive, till the time you depart. This includes the walk, changing, safety briefs etc. You’ll actually be in the water for one hour. That’ll be enough for you.

What is the experience of your instructors?

We pride ourselves on our professional ability. We look the part and act the part in the water.

You’ll be able to spot our guides instantly as we all wear a uniform and have a safety tube in the group. This enables the guide to point to the exact location of the jumps and tow any participant who is tired. We have two guides per group

Our guides tend to be on the more mature side and have undertaken quite extensive training in conjunction with the National Coasteering Charter. We always have a minimum of two guides per a maximum of sixteen participants in one group. Normally, in practice, a group size is around two guides per ten participants.

Do you have male / female changing facilities?

Yes, and a private toilet and private parking. The changing facilities are basic but adequate. With other Coasteering operators you would be changing in a public car park with no toilet facilities and you would also have to pay for the parking.

A Blast of a Stag Do!

If you're looking for a different/adventurous activity for a stag do then coasteering with cumulus in Bournemouth is a must! Absolutely amazing! Thank you to Mike and the other instructor. The boys had a blast!

Amazing Coasteering Experience

I organised a stag do coasteering experience for 11 people with Cumulus, and they were brilliant from day one. I arranged it in advance with Sam, who made the whole process easy and hassle free, and on the day the instructors Gary and Shane were just brilliant, striking the perfect tone between reassuring people about safety but also gently encouraging them to test the limits of their comfort zones. Everybody in our group, from die-hard adventurers to tentative indoor types, absolutely loved the experience, as GoPro images show! In short, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to friends and family. And, for anybody organising a stag do on the south coast, this is the perfect group activity and also an excellent hangover cure (the cold sea will instantly make you forget about your headache).

Best Hen Do Activity!

I was desperate to do coasteering for my hen do, and after a lot of research my bridesmaids decided to go with Cumulous Outdoors due to their quick responses and the fact they offer an alternative activity if the weather doesn't lend itself to coasteering.
I cannot express how glad I am we went with them! We had a group of 17 girls who all enjoy the outdoors to varying extents, and some of whom are terrified of heights and/or water...but despite that absolutely everyone had a fantastic time! The instructors were just brilliant - there was no pressure on having to do any part, but also a good level of encouragement to get people out of their comfort zone and enjoy it...girls who were terrified at the beginning ended up doing the highest jump! The instructors had so much patience with us (I don't think we were the fastest of groups!), and it was clear that their aim was for us to enjoy it as one group all together and that is exactly what happened.
A brilliant experience, certainly recommended! May 2016

Last minute Stag Do provision!

Cumulus provided us with a fantastic couple of hours coasteering when another, far less impressive rival company let us down at the last minute. I rang Cumulus and they arranged coasteering for 21 people with less than a days notice! The activity was brilliant and was run by professional guides and we all felt safe despite BIG seas in mid December. The equipment supplied was fantastic and despite the sea temperature we all felt warm (ish!), especially with the warm drink supplied at the end.
Brilliant company, quite simply saved our Stag fun! Thoroughly recommended!

Brilliant Instructors!

We were a group of 9 ’Hens’ of varying ages and abilities. Our instructors Sam and Tommo were absolutely brilliant. They looked after us with a blend of firmness and humour and made sure we were safe at all times. The venue Dancing Ledge was great and the first jump from the ledge into the water was quite easy. With the other jumps, our instructors were very encouraging but not too pushy. We all agreed that it was such an exciting and fun experience and I personally (by far the oldest in the group) cannot wait to go again! Thank you Cumulus, especially Sam and Tommo, for such a fantastic experience.

An incredible day out that made a stag to remember!

I organised for 10 of us to do this for a stag do and it was INCREDIBLE!
Jess, our instructor, really knew her stuff and made the day so much fun, adding to the day and making it a personalised experience rather than just an event.
Jumping into the sea at different heights, going into caves and getting whirled around in the “washing machine” was exhilarating but they never push to do anything you don’t want to.
This was a total hit and we would recommend to anyone looking for a fun activity for a Stag or otherwise!

What an amazing stag do activity!

Only good things to say about the 3 guys that took us out Saturday morning (11th). Felt Extremely safe in their hands in some tough conditions coasteering. Each and every one of us had the time of our lives being bashed around in the sea, while the instructors always made sure safety was maintained. Thanks so much for a great morning, highly recommend and would love to go again.
