Raft Racing

Friendly team competition and challenges! Which raft will float, which will sink and who will win the race?

The Cumulus Crew runs raft racing and building activity days for organisations, groups and families. Raft building challenges and raft racing team days are great fun and ideal for bringing groups of people together. Pioneering is a great team challenge and a dry alternative to raft building. Use newly learnt skills to build a huge catapult and do battle with the other teams. Bring it on!

Families and smaller groups can also book onto raft racing sessions to experiment with building rafts and then having mini adventures trying to keep them afloat!

  • Learn Raft building techniques

  • All safety equipment provided
  • Combine with Bushcraft for a complete land and water based experience!

FAQs - The Essentials

How long does the session last?

A raft building and racing session lasts about two hours. It incorporates Pioneering which is construction of a frame with poles and ropes in the form of a competition. We then move on to raft building and again, there may be a competition element involved in the construction.

What shall I bring?

Bring old clothes and trainers suitable for the outdoor conditions on the day and count on the fact that you may get wet. Bring spare clothes to change back into.

What safety kit do you provide?

You’ll have an experienced instructor who will issue you with a buoyancy aid and and helmet.
