Stand up paddleboarding (SUP) is fast becoming one of the most popular watersports in Dorset! Work with our instructors to perfect your balance and master the art of kneeling then standing up. Once you’re confident we’ll teach you the basic skills needed to propel yourself through the water and turn. With a little bit of practice, you’ll be paddling around the lake in no time at all!
Our sheltered lake is the perfect place for complete beginners such as families or groups to try stand up paddleboarding for the first time. The water is flat calm and safe, giving even the youngest participants the confidence needed to try something new. It’s our hope that you’ll leave the session with new skills, and maybe a new hobby!

Where can I find your SUP certificates?
If you would like to see our stand up paddleboarding information, including risk assessments, policies, emergency procedures, insurance and affiliation certification, please ask. You will be sent a link to our website with a password to access and download as much as you need.
Are you insured for stand up paddleboarding?
Yes, we are insured for SUP and we have £10 million public liability insurance. We are accredited by: Institute of Outdoor Learning, National Coasteering Charter, Adventure Activities Licensing Service, DofE Approved Activity Provider and Learning Outside the Classroom.
Do students need to be able to swim for SUP?
Yes, students need to be able to swim 25m for stand up paddleboarding. Don’t forgot, this is with a wetsuit and buoyancy aid on which provides a huge amount of buoyancy. We basically are requiring them to be confident in the water and be able to move forward.
What happens if there is bad weather before stand up paddleboarding?
Rarely is the weather bad enough to cancel a SUP session. However, if we feel we need to cancel or change the stand up paddleboarding session, we will be in touch at least 2 days prior to the activity. We will however always do our best to deliver the activities as per the agreed programme.
What if my child doesn’t want do stand up paddleboarding?
During the SUP session we challenge the students to participate voluntarily, to push their comfort zone and test themselves. We operate a ‘challenge by choice ethos’, which allows the students to choose the level they are comfortable with.
What is the instructor to participant ratio for SUP?
The instructor to participant ratio for stand up paddleboarding is 1:10.
What kit do students need to bring stand up paddleboarding?
Swimming costume, towel and training shoes suitable for the water are needed for SUP. Please no flip flops, thin wetsuit shoes or crocs! We will supply a wetsuit, buoyancy aid and helmet. Don’t forget a rucksack for your clothes, snacks, something to drink and any personal medication.
