Outdoor Adventure Activities for Schools

We’re delighted to offer school and youth groups the opportunity to participate in a range of outdoor adventure activities during a residential school trip at Cumulus Outdoors. We will work with you to create a bespoke activity programme, which is designed to meet the the needs of your group.

Our land and water-based activity sessions take place in iconic locations across Dorset, including beauty spots along the world-renowned Jurassic Coast. Students will have the chance to learn new skills in a safe environment, under the watchful eye of our highly experienced team of instructors. Each of our activities has their own specific set of learning outcomes and objectives.

Fossil Hunting

Discover hidden treasures dating back millions of years during a fossil hunting session at Kimmeridge Bay on the Jurassic Coast. Learn how to find, excavate and identify fossils during this fun-filled educational activity.

Indoor Bouldering

Give bouldering a go during your school trip at Cumulus Outdoors. Push yourself out of your comfort zone and try indoor climbing with no ropes! Our instructors will teach you fundamental skills and proper technique.

Axe Throwing

Learn how to safely throw axes on the Cumulus target range with the help of our qualified instructors. Who will hit the bullseye?

Aeroball

Two duos can go head to head in our 4-person Aeroball - a high-octane trampoline ball game!

Coasteering

Explore hidden sea caves, scramble over rocks and jump from cliffs during our fun-filled coasteering sessions on the Jurassic Coast.

Climbing & Abseiling

Climb to new heights at Dancing Ledge or Hedbury Quarry on the Jurassic Coast. Learn how to safely manoeuvre across rocks and belay partner.

Stand Up Paddleboarding

Stand Up Paddleboarding is the fastest growing sport in the world. Take to our private lake and perfect your paddling technique.

Mackerel Fishing Trips

Mackerel fishing trips in Swanage Bay are great fun. Try your hand at catching some fish before preparing and eating them for dinner.

Ropes Courses

Students will conquer their fears as they tackle our high and low ropes course. Great fun and extremely rewarding.

Dorset Mud Trail

Tackle more than 50 obstacles along a 2km woodland route at Dorset Adventure Park. Take on muddy slides and rope swings.

Dorset Water Park

'Total Wipeout' style inflatable obstacle course set on a stunning lake overlooking historic Corfe Castle. The highlight of many students trips.

Mountain Biking

Explore the beautiful scenery surrounding our residential centre and tented villages by pedal power during a mountain biking session.

Tag Archery

Tag Archery is a unique combination of archery, dodgeball and paintball. We think it's the perfect team game activity!

Bushcraft

Learn a range of survival skills in our bushcraft sessions for schools. Embrace the great outdoors and get back to basics.

Air Rifles

Learn to safely handle an air rifle in a safe and supervised environment. Perfect your shooting technique on our archery range.

Canoeing

Explore the lake in a traditional Canadian canoe. Paddle in pairs and learn to steer and manoeuvre safely through the water.

Beach Safety & Games

Fun-filled water activities designed to improve students confidence and understanding of open water.

Kayaking

Learn to manoeuvre a sit on kayak in a stunning Dorset setting. Our private lake is the perfect place to get to grips with the basics.

Orienteering

Use a map to navigate around the Cumulus Outdoors Residential Centre. Find hidden control points in a race against the clock.

Raft Building

Use barrels and planks to build a raft and race across the lake. Work together to beat the other team! Will you emerge victorious?!

Rib Rides

Enjoy an adrenaline fuelled rib ride across Swanage Bay. See iconic Dorset landmarks and learn about local history whilst at sea.
