Cumulus Outdoors Supports Local Swanage Businesses
November 15th, 2021
We’ve made supporting local businesses a priority for Cumulus Outdoors in 2021.
Swanage BayNow that the busy summer season is behind us, we can look back at the past 6 months with pride. Negotiating the path out of lockdown wasn’t easy, but the Cumulus Outdoors team have put their all into reopening safely and tackling any challenges that we’ve faced along the way.
As part of the build back process, we made supporting local Swanage businesses a priority. 2021 has been a difficult year for everyone and we really wanted to work alongside providers that were negatively impacted by Covid-19. Over the course of the season we’ve had the pleasure of working with a number of trusted partners. They’ve helped us meet our school and youth groups desired outcomes and deliver our residential trips and activity days.

Trusted local Swanage businesses
These have included Swanage Sea Fishing, organising fishing trips for our school groups, Pierhead Watersports for RIB rides and RIB Coasteering with our Duke of Edinburgh groups, Swanage Railway for trips into Corfe Castle and local suppliers JJ Moore, Swanage Bakery, Swanage Dairy and the Fish Plaice who have consistently and reliably delivered good quality food items to our kitchens for our young visitors to enjoy.
As a summer evening activity, our school groups also enjoyed the crazy golf at Santa Fe!
In addition to the varied programmes we’ve delivered at our residential centre and our tented villages, we’ve hosted various groups seeking accommodation to be able to participate in Swanage events. These have included the Brentwood Imperial Youth Band who march in the Swanage Carnival Procession, a group of performers who took part in the Folk Festival in September plus groups participating in the TPOW Purbeck Outdoor Weekend in September.
“It’s been a very tough time for all of us” said Cumulus MD Sam Thompson, “we worked hard to ensure we were able to provide enjoyable and safe residential programmes and by doing so we were able to do our bit to help local businesses and support local events”.
