A number of courses are delivered at the Cumulus Outdoors Residential Centre throughout the year. Available courses include first aid for the outdoor sector, the popular RLSS beach lifeguard programme and the ERCA High and low ropes instructor course.
Cumulus Outdoors Residential Centre is located in a quiet location backing onto the Townsend Nature Reserve. It is situated just 10 minutes’ walk from Swanage town centre and boasts far reaching views across the bay. The Cumulus team deliver an excellent programme of courses throughout the year, with a particular focus on the outdoor education sector. We work with accredited organisations to provide qualifications in beach safety and first aid.
We are able to offer on-site accommodation for multi-day courses, which is an added bonus for participants based in the wider Dorset area. You’ll complete the courses with like-minded individuals, in an educational and supportive setting.
First aid courses
We deliver a varied programme of first aid courses and training sessions from our base in Swanage every year. Our first aid courses are mainly designed for individuals working in the outdoor education sector and cover a range of topics including moving a casualty, spinal injuries and control of bleeding. They are fully accredited by the Institute for Outdoor Learning and are valid for 3 years. We can also deliver more work based first aid courses, such as First Aid at Work.
RLSS Beach Lifeguard
The National Vocational Beach Lifeguard Qualification (NVBLQ) is the qualification for outdoor instructors or individuals seeking employment on the beach and around coasts. The NVBLQ not only provides the knowledge and skills required to operate effectively in a beach environment, but has many core benefits to water safety across many activities, such as Coasteering.
ERCA High and Low Ropes
The qualification delivered by Vertex Ltd is designed to follow the ERCA training syllabus for both the traditional high and low ropes courses. It is suitable for anyone who manages or operates these types of facilities. The course covers both theoretical and practical aspects over a 5 day training programme. Minimum age 18yrs for all attendees.
