The main subjects covered in our key stage 1 & 2 primary packages cover, Environmental Education (Science), Geography, History, PE and Alternative Activities.
1. Environmental Education
Identifying minibeast hunters, animals interactions and food chains, animal detectives, evolution and adaptations, ultimate survivors, predators and prey, moth trapping, bird watching, rockpool and habitat exploring
Rock types and the Rock Cycle with workshop sessions, investigate how is soil made, fossil hunting and formation, how was the Jurassic Coast formed?
Links to nature and nature awareness activities, Pollution and changes in habitats
Weather and climate studies
Investigate windspeed, temperature and rainfall , Making comparisons and handling data
The Water Cycle
Explore the water cycle through centre-based models, river study trips and fieldwork in the Isle of Purbeck.
Explore the work of Andy Goldsworthy and other environmental artists and create your own giant artwork using natural resources, field sketching and watercolour painting.
These activities can take place on site with the use of our facilities and also in various locations across the Isle of Purbeck including Kimmeridge Bay for zonation, rockpools, fossils and rocks, Studland for habitats, succession and beach studies, RSPB Arne for bird watching
Map making, Navigation and map symbols, Geography in action by visiting landforms, Coastal studies, River studies, Fieldwork investigations, Sketch maps and field sketches, Explore the water cycle through centre-based models,
Grid references – learn how to grid reference through outdoor games and activities.

Orienteering and map skills
Onsite and off-site orienteering courses at a variety of levels. Photo orienteering and scavenger hunts, Map skills and using a compass.
Corfe Castle through the ages – continuity and change,
Explore Stone Age and Bronze Age Britain – visit local sites and even meet characters from the past…
World War II Days – Arrive in Swanage as Evacuees by Steam Train and then spend the day in character exploring Purbeck’s war time history.
Little London by the Sea a local history study (Swanage’s stone heritage) – Exploring how the purpose of Swanage changed during the Victorian era and make comparisons to today.
Locations include Swanage town, pier and Heritage Centre, Studland and Corfe Castle
Our adventurous activities cover the aims and objectives of curriculum requirements such as participating in team games, taking part in outdoor adventures challenges, and seeing improvements in personal development and achievement.
Choose from our extensive list of outdoor adventures to fulfil your needs; coasteering, climbing, kayaking, paddleboarding, orienteering, bushcraft, raft building, target skills, tag archery and local walks. Again, these activities take place either on-site or at one of our various locations within the Isle of Purbeck.
