Swanage Zombie Story

December 9th, 2024

This Summer, we had a great time with the schools that visited us at our tented villages and residential centre, and we definitely made the most of the sunshine. During the evening, pupils had the opportunity to switch off after a long day out and sit around the bonfire with our instructors. One of our instructors, Henry, started a chant about Zombies in Swanage, that inspired a story from two of our visitors this summer. Have a read below!

Swanage Zombie Story

The food tent (which included Ava, Evie, Ayvah, Joyce, Hermione, Inara, Alena and Emily) all sat around the campfire and were warned not to enter the woods at night. Laying motionless in the dark cold tent, all they could think about was what was so dangerous in the depths of the beautiful woods?

As night rolled in, they all woke up to the sound of Alena sleep talking, “It’s only 3:30! Let me sleep!” As they were all awake-except Ayvah who was still fast asleep –they picked up their torches. All of a sudden, Ayvah woke from her slumber. The food tent put extra layers of clothing and shoes on ready to head out the torches shone on the woods making it shine like a diamond as they walked further in.

Strange noises came from behind, eerie shadows lurked and thunder growled overhead. It was the Swanage Zombie Zombie! Out of nowhere they all heard, “If you were to touch a zombie you would become one to!” All of them remembered these exact words in their heads. A split second later, the food tent begun running.

After a while of chaos and panic, the zombie realised they were from the campsite. He explained that the Cumulus staff made him to keep children out of the forest (to keep them safe) and he was very grateful for them.

On the way back, everyone became best friends with the Swanage Zombie Zombie. To celebrate their new friend they all gathered round the campfire and the zombie surprised them with The Zombie Zombie song which was all about him.

In the morning, the food tent swore never to disobey them again: the punishment was washing all the dishes!
