Working to Support the Local Community and Good Causes

The team at Cumulus Outdoors are always keen to assist projects in the Swanage area. Here we share a selection of the good causes we’ve supported recently.
You’ll know Cumulus Outdoors as the school residential and activity specialists based in Swanage delivering school trips and activity days, either at our residential centre in Swanage (previously the Townsend Centre) or at one of our tented villages. What you may not be quite so aware of is how we work to support the local community and a variety of good causes.
We’re always keen to assist the local community wherever we can, so please do get in touch if you think we may be able to help or support a project you’re working on or a requirement you may have.
Below are some examples of how we have been able to contribute:
Working to support the local community
- Activity days for local schools – St Mary’s Primary Swanage, Swanage Primary, The Swanage School
- Delivery of part of School PE curriculum (Watersports) for The Swanage School plus Team building/bonding activities throughout the year
- Activity evenings and fire pits for local Scouts and Brownies
- Overnight taster sessions for local primary schools – Wareham St Mary’s, Hamworthy Junior School, Sandford St Martin Primary
- Delivery of HAF programme for Dorset Council – free activity sessions and a hot lunch for children who qualify for free school meals
- School Holiday Activity Club and Free Breakfast Club for local children
- Lone working outdoor first aid training to local farmers
- Sponsor of Swanage Carnival and Swanage Fish Festival
Working to support good causes
- Ukrainian Day for refugee families with a full day of outdoor activities.
- Activity day experiences for survivors and bereaved families from Julia’s House
- Youth Cancer Trust: delivering an activity day as a trial for cancer survivors as part of Youth Adventure Trust
- Full activity day for a group of young carers from Magna Academy, Poole
- Long standing Business Partner of the Jurassic Coast Trust, donations raising £500+ annually
- Supporting The St Aldhelm Church Christmas Tree Festival in Langton Matravers raising money for charity
- Assisting the National Coastwatch Institution Station at St Alban’s Head with mast repairs
- Sleeping bags donated to the homeless charity Julian’s House
