Climbing Rising to New Heights

We love climbing, so when when it was announced that climbing would feature at the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games we couldn’t have been happier. It will be the first time in the sports history for it to be included in the Olympics. The news has been welcomed by many climbing enthusiasts who are hailing this triumph as the first step at bringing climbing into the main stream.

Olympic climbing will be contested in a triathlon style, whereby 40 athletes will compete in 3 events testing different disciplines of climbing. Over the course of the competition each climber will participate in a head to head speed climbing race as well as lead climbing and bouldering events.

Following the announcement, we have seen a surge in interest in our climbing sessions, with lots of people getting in touch wanting to give climbing a go. It is fantastic to see that it’s inclusion in the Olympic programme is already introducing this growing sport to a new audience and inspiring people of all ages to climb. Climbing has a number of health and fitness benefits and can help children and adults develop self confidence as well as strength and flexibility.
