A Glowing Report for our Adventure Filled Cumulus Coast Residential

Planning your 2018 School Residential Trip?

Hazelwood Prep School recently enjoyed a Cumulus Coast 4 night Residential Camp. Our camp is set in an exclusive, secluded camp on the edge of Poole Harbour in Dorset. See what they thought of their 2017 experience…

What they enjoyed about Cumulus Coast School residential:

Returning once again for their Cumulus Coast Residential, the school enjoyed an action packed adventure programme. With Team Games on arrival, followed by Coasteering, Kayaking, Mackerel Fishing, Climbing & Abseiling and Bushcraft, culminating in a BBQ and Beach Games, the week was full of fun and adventure.

What they said:

“I just wanted to drop a quick message into the main office so that you are all aware how pleased, grateful and appreciative not only I, but the school and parents too, for how much the children enjoyed their week in Dorset.

It was great to get them away from their computers and phones for the week and get them doing things that kids their age should be doing; exploring, climbing, foraging and singing ridiculous songs at night time instead of sleeping! We were in more than safe hands with Luke, Paul and Alice on camp and it was also impressive to have Roxie, Sam and Tom pay us a visit while we were there too.

Having worked in similar environments to this prior to my teaching days (last week makes me miss it!) I recall how difficult it is to please everyone and with quite a range in characters I thought it was going to be a tricky one getting some kids involved.  I was wrong.  With Luke’s entertaining and encouraging ways, Paul’s encyclopaedic knowledge and Alice cooking up a storm there was plenty to keep everyone happy.

All of the activities pushed the children beyond their comfort zone; from the shy to more adventurous they all had their own challenges to tackle.  This kept some in check, gave the quieter ones a chance to shine and unearthed a sense of adventure in some that they never knew existed – who knew how good fresh mackerel cooked over the fire could be or that we were camped so close to our supply of groceries tasty enough to supply Waitrose. In all it was just what the kids needed and exceeded all that I could have hoped they would take from it.

Thank you to all involved with organising our week away and thanks in particular, again, to Luke, Paul and Alice.

All the best for the remainder of the season, I’m off to start planning how I can get on the trip again next year!”
